    2009 Theme:  Transforming Transportation

Can FIRST LEGO League teams transform the way we look at transportation? The key to the 2009 “Smart Move” Challenge is accessing people, places, goods and services in the safest, most efficient way possible. In this journey, teams will consider many modes of transportation beyond their daily routine and streamline their options by making smart moves!

The 2009 FLL Season

This season will be amazing!  Congratulations to all of our teams for learning, sharing, and having fun while competing last year. You all rock!  Check out the our teams page to see how the teams did both at our regional and the State Championship.

Sign up for email updates. Remember that it all starts up the first week of school so this is our only efficient way to get a hold of everyone...

What is FIRST LEGO League (FLL)?

FIRST LEGO League, or FLL, is an exciting and fun international robotics program that ignites enthusiasm for discovery, science, and technology in kids ages 9 to 14.

Each year FLL teams embark on an adventurous challenge based on current, real-world issues.  Guided by a team coach and assisted by mentors, the kids:

  • Research and solve a real-world problem based on the Challenge theme

  • Design, build, program, and test an autonomous robot to complete missions related to the annual Challenge theme

  • Present their original research and solutions

  • Complete interviews regarding technical and teamwork processes

  • Carry out school of origin and community outreach and education

The FLL annual Challenge:

  • Encourages kids to think like scientists and engineers

  • Provides a fun, creative, hands-on learning experience

  • Teaches kids to experiment and overcome obstacles

  • Builds self-esteem and confidence

  • Inspires kids to participate in other science and technology related classes and programs

By creativity, access to technology, or interesting research, FLL dares kids to test, explore, expand, and change their approach to science and technology in the world around them.  No matter what the child's interests, FLL offers an opportunity for engagement.
