Helpful resources for learning about LEGO League, programming a robot, or doing research for your FLL project. Please contact us if you have a resource to add. High Tech Kids: The website of the Minnesota LEGO League program. It has tutorials and guides to different building techniques, and info on how to tournaments are judged. Look for the headers "FLL strategy videos" and "challenges". You can also see tournament videos. FIRST Robotics: This is the national program under which First LEGO League (FLL) operates. You can read about the principle guiding the program (gracious professionalism) and much more. The site covers the high school First Robotics Competition, First Vex Challenge, and FLL. Programming with the NXT Software: Programming with the NXT Software: A great reference site for how to write programs using mindstorms software. We use this software–it's the same software you buy at the store. LEGO Mindstorms Education Site: The official LEGO site for the over-the-counter version of the NXT set. Cool stuff, so check it out! Conserving Memory on Your NXT: A PDF file that describes how to free up some memory if you are running into a storage issue. We have yet to blow out the capacity of the new NXT, but you never know. The Art of Lego Design [PDF]: Includes an analysis of the structure of a LEGO; discussion of gears, gear reduction, and geartrains; and building tricks. |
