Camp Topics:

Scratch Cat

Scratch Game Design- $275/session (PM only)
Scratch is a programming language developed at the MIT Media Lab to enable kids to be creative with computers. In this camp we’ll make animations and games using Scratch 2.0. Participants will learn real programming concepts such as logic, variables, and loops that (we hope) they’ll hold on to for the rest of their lives. Scratch can be downloaded and used for free, so once we get kids hooked, they’ll have a new activity that they can do anytime, anywhere. Most everything they learn will also be applicable not only in programming and engineering, but also the digital arts.

This camp is suitable for computer programming novices as well as those who already have a little familiarity with Scratch. The class is structured to include whole-class instruction, independent work time, one-on-one teacher check ins and peer review and sharing.

Minecraft Modding – $275/session (AM or PM)
Minecraft is an online, block-based universe where players can explore and build their own world. Minecraft is special because how you “play the game” is determined by the player and possibilities are limited only by your imagination and ingenuity. Minecraft Modding will introduce how to use Java to code modifications. Over the week we will use Minecraft to learn about if-statements, loops, functions, variables, and methods all while we creating multiplayer mini games like battle arenas and Lucky Blocks.
Minecraft Modding is suitable for all levels of experience.

Tinkercad 3D Printing – $275/session (AM only)
This camp is all about using a computer to create3D designs and artwork. Tinkercad is a beginner CAD (computer-aided design) online tool. We will learn how to use Tinkercad to create digital objects and then print on the BadgerBOTS 3D printers. Over the week, the class will work on several projects and learn not just design and print, but some 3D printing troubleshooting and design improvement.
This class is for all levels of experience, but students should be comfortable using a computer mouse with precision.

Please click on the links below to be redirected to our camp registration site. Each camp session will be limited to 14 participants. If the camp is full when you register, you can be added to the waiting list. You will be notified of any open camp registrations no later than one week before the beginning of a session.

If your child is registered for a morning and afternoon session we will have a lunch break from 11:30 – noon. Children will need to bring their own lunch each day. Lunches will be kept in our refrigerator until 11:30. From noon – 1pm we will have time for games, activities, crafts, and maybe time outside if the weather is nice.

Refunds and Cancellations:

For cancellations, payments will be refunded minus a 10% administration fee if received two weeks before the first day of camp. Any session cancellations received after this date will not be refunded. All cancellations must be received in writing in order to be refunded (email is sufficient).
