Job Title: FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) & Outreach Coordinator
Location: Middleton, Wisconsin

The BadgerBots vision is simple: we see a world where every kid discovers a love for STEM—and knows that they can pursue a future in it. In the last 10 years we've delivered STEM content to more than 20,000 kids.

Our roots are in robotics, but we also host summer and school day off camps and private workshops on topics including 3D printing, Minecraft game modding, LEGO robotics, micro:bit and 2D game design. Our community engagement program creates meaningful, relevant STEM experiences for kids in underserved populations. 

As Wisconsin's Program Delivery Organization for FIRST LEGO League, we're committed to growing robotics participation throughout the state.

Our Outreach Coordinator will be the driving force behind our mission to expand STEM access across Wisconsin. They'll lead our efforts to create new FIRST LEGO League teams in underserved communities, engage existing participants through dynamic events and build lasting partnerships that make robotics accessible to all kids.

​

You will:

  • Promote FIRST LEGO League programs throughout Wisconsin, reaching out to school districts and organizations in rural and underserved communities

  • Build relationships with community centers, schools and youth organizations in the Madison area to create new FLL teams

  • Provide hands-on support and mentorship to coaches and teams during the FLL season (August - January)

  • Plan and execute engaging pop-up events that bring robotics demonstrations directly to communities

  • Organize special events like robotics showcases, competitions, workshops and community STEM nights

  • Develop creative strategies to keep existing BadgerBots teams engaged and excited about their programs

  • Write grants and secure funding to support outreach initiatives, including Wisconsin DPI Robotics grants

  • Conduct presentations to diverse audiences to recruit new participants and promote BadgerBots programs

  • Track and report on key metrics including team growth, participant engagement and partnership development

  • Work toward adding Co-PDP (Program Delivery Partner) capabilities to expand our statewide impact

You are:

  • A natural relationship-builder who can connect authentically with people from all backgrounds

  • Comfortable presenting to groups ranging from elementary students to school board members

  • Organized and detail-oriented, able to juggle multiple events and projects simultaneously

  • Passionate about equity and committed to serving underserved communities

  • Creative and resourceful in finding ways to engage kids and families in STEM

  • Energetic and enthusiastic about robotics and hands-on learning

  • Collaborative and willing to pitch in wherever the organization needs support

  • Comfortable traveling throughout Wisconsin for outreach activities

You have:

  • 2-3 years of experience in community outreach, program coordination or event management

  • Experience planning and executing community events or educational programming

  • Strong communication skills and comfort with public speaking

  • Grant writing or fundraising experience (preferred)

  • Bachelor's degree in education, communications or related field (preferred)

  • Experience with FIRST programs, robotics education or STEM outreach (highly desirable)

  • A valid driver's license and willingness to travel for outreach activities

Schedule & Location: This position is full-time and based in Middleton, Wisconsin. You'll need to travel throughout the state for outreach activities and will work primarily on-site during the FLL season (August - January) to support teams and events. Evening and weekend hours will be required for events, presentations and during peak robotics season.
