Summer Camp

Half-Day Camps * June 13 – August 26 * Ages 7–12 * In-Person Instruction

When the sun shines, it’s time for STEM! This year, we’re offering week-long, half-day camps for ages 7–9 and 9–12. We’re also bringing back our popular early drop-off and extended pick-up times. Pick and choose what works best for your family, and sign up for as many weeks as you’d like!

(One small note: each camp topic is taught with the same content every week it’s offered, so we don’t recommend signing up for the same topic multiple times.)

Times and Costs for 2022

Early Drop-Off: $75, 7:30 a.m.
Morning Camp: $275, 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Lunch and Recess: $50, 11:30 – 12:30 p.m. (bring a sack lunch)
Afternoon Camp: $275, 12:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Extended Pick-Up: $100, 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Digital Storyteller with ScratchJr (ages 7–9) – All Sessions Full

Lights, camera, code! Our little storytellers will explore how to use the Scratch coding language and all its tools—logic, variables, loops, and more—to tell stories and make games.  
Experience Level: All levels. Students will program with touchscreen OR with mouse and keyboard, depending on their comfort level.

Junior LEGO Robotics (ages 7–9) – All Sessions Full

Beep beep boop boop! Our little robot-makers will create and program a LEGO Mindstorms robot. Working with a partner, they’ll master construction techniques, learn how to measure distance and turns, and put everything together to code a robot-controlling program. Then, they’ll put it to the test!

LEGO WeDO: Build, Code, CREATE! (ages 7–9) – All Sessions Full

Calling all LEGO lovers! Our little engineers will learn about simple machines and programming basics as they build multiple moving LEGO models every day. With the power of WeDo, they’ll adjust how their models respond to sound, movement, and changes in distance.

Micro:bit Junior (ages 7–9) All Sessions Full

Super tiny, super cute! Our little coders will learn how to program the micro:bit, a super small and very versatile computer. They’ll build and code a variety of contraptions using pre-designed parts.

3D Printing Lab (ages 9–12) – All Sessions Full

Design from the ground up! Our digital designers will use Tinkercad, a beginner computer-aided design program, to create digital objects that can be printed on the BadgerBOTS 3D printer. They’ll work on a variety of projects, fine-tune their designs, learn how to troubleshoot issues, and print their favorites.
Experience Level: All levels; students should be comfortable using a computer mouse with precision

Android App Inventor (ages 9–12)

Anyone can make an app! Our coding visionaries will use the drag-and-drop App Inventor program to design and build their own custom Android apps. They’ll be able to use Bluetooth, GPS, phone sensors, and WiFi to create the apps they’ve always wanted to make for phones or tablets.
Experience Level: All levels; some familiarity with drag-and-drop coding is helpful

Coding with Artificial Intelligence (ages 9–12)

Let’s solve problems with technology! Our insightful programmers will examine artificial intelligence and its modern applications, from voice commands to facial recognition. They’ll code their own machine learning systems, such as their own CAPTCHA, and learn how to integrate them into projects and games.

Handheld Arcade Games (ages 9–12)

Ready to create a new world? Our game designers will use JavaScript and block-based coding to design and create their own video games, from simple how-fast-can-you-click twitch games to maze games to platform jumpers. Once their world development is complete, they’ll use the pocket-sized GameGo controller to download their games and play with friends!

LEGO Robotics Challenge (ages 9–12)

Push LEGO to its limit! Our robot engineers will build and program robots to fulfill specific challenges. After learning the basics of measuring and accuracy, coding strategies, debugging and troubleshooting, and equipping sensors, they’ll work with a partner to creatively design a robot that earns as many challenge points as possible.

Micro:bit Makerspace (ages 9–12)

It’s time for some digital DIY! Our creators will use the teeny, tiny, and super versatile micro:bit computer to program a wide variety of cool devices. Using inputs (buttons, sound, resistance, light, and more) and outputs (LED lights, display, sound, and more) in Microsoft MakeCode, they’ll make their own wearable tech, robotic pets, high-tech board games, musical instruments, and more.

Micro:bit Robotics (ages 9–12)

Hello, tiny computer! Our super-coders will learn to code the micro:bit, a super small and very versatile computer. They’ll learn to control motors, LEDs, and several kinds of sensors, then they’ll build and code robots that can drive, lift, follow, avoid, carry, glow, and more! They’ll also work with their classmates to create large-scale projects, such as a city of self-driving cars.

Minecraft Game Modding (ages 9–12) – All Sessions Full

Let’s write some custom code! Our game designers will tweak their inventory and much, much more in this Minecraft deep dive. They’ll build their programming skills by learning to code if-statements, loops, functions, variables, and methods with an online modding program and Javascript. Then, they’ll imagine, design, and create mini-games that are fun and fair to play.
