BadgerBots to Host FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge Coach Training

FIRST Certified Professional Development. Coaching for FIRST LEGO League Challenge Coaches! September 12 and 13 at BadgerBots in Middleton, WI. Earn 14 professional development credits. Course provided by BadgerBots.

BadgerBots will host an in-person, 2-day FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge professional development course on Sept. 12–13, 2025 at our Middleton, Wisconsin location.


This hands-on training is designed for teachers and parents coaching FLL Challenge teams (grades 4-8). Over two days, you’ll collaborate with other coaches and educators while gaining the tools and confidence to lead a successful robotics season and earn 14 professional development credits.


Coaching doesn’t have to be overwhelming. In this immersive course you’ll:

  • Step into your students’ shoes by building and coding a LEGO SPIKE™ Prime robot

  • Learn how to support students in research, design and problem solving

  • Learn how to foster collaboration, computational thinking and Core Values in your team

  • Gain practical strategies for preparing your students for competition day

  • Apply Project-Based Learning and the Engineering Design Process in action, and more!


This course will be led by Steve DeCabooter, a FIRST Certified Trainer with more than a decade of robotics coaching experience. Steve has coached several teams in FLL and FTC including MR COD, Attack Hamsters, 1000 Hamsters, Legoats, and others. He now serves as President of the BadgerBots Board of Directors and continues to support the BadgerBots FLL, FTC and FRC programs as a mentor to coaches, bringing both hands-on experience and a passion for helping teams succeed.
