BadgerBots is excited to welcome Emily Luffey as our new FIRST® LEGO® League and Outreach Coordinator. Emily brings experience as a STEAM educator, mentor, and outreach specialist, with a passion for creating hands-on learning experiences and expanding access to STEAM opportunities for youth.
In her role, Emily will be a driving force behind BadgerBots' efforts to grow FIRST LEGO League—a robotics program for students in grades 4-8—throughout Wisconsin, particularly in underserved communities. She will work closely with schools, community centers, and youth organizations to create new FLL teams, support coaches and students throughout the season, and bring engaging robotics experiences directly into communities. Emily's work will play a key role in strengthening BadgerBots' community partnerships and ensuring more kids have the opportunity to explore engineering, creativity, and teamwork through robotics.
Emily holds a Master of Science in Biophysics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Bachelor of Science in Biophysics from Arizona State University. She combines strong technical expertise with creativity, organization, and an approachable style that makes STEAM learning accessible and welcoming.
BadgerBots Executive Director Mark Rushton shared, "With her strong science background and experience in STEAM education and outreach, Emily brings exactly what we need to expand FIRST LEGO League across Wisconsin. Her ability to connect with students, coaches, and communities will make a real difference, and we’re excited to welcome her to the team."
Emily is equally enthusiastic about joining the BadgerBots community and expanding inclusive student robotics opportunities statewide. "From the moment I walked into BadgerBots, the energy was absolutely contagious," Emily said. "The creativity, joy, and collaboration that define this community make it such a special place. I'm thrilled to join the team and can't wait to support students, mentors, and families while helping expand inclusive, hands-on STEAM experiences that reach more kids across Wisconsin and empower them to explore, build confidence, and believe in their ideas."
Please join us in welcoming Emily Luffey to the BadgerBots team. We're excited for what's ahead and grateful to have her helping lead the next chapter of FIRST LEGO League and outreach at BadgerBots.
